South Surfacing Ltd wants as many people as possible to be able to use this website, whatever device they use and whatever their needs.
What we have done
This website has been built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA, and with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 in mind. In practice that means:
- Every part of the site can be used with a keyboard alone, and the focused element is always clearly outlined.
- Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against its background.
- There is a skip to content link at the top of every page.
- Every form field has a visible label, and errors are explained in plain words rather than by colour alone.
- Images carry alternative text describing what they show.
- Headings follow a logical order so a screen reader can navigate the page.
- The cookie banner can be operated by keyboard, receives focus when it opens and never traps focus.
- Animation and movement are switched off for anyone whose device is set to reduce motion.
- The site can be zoomed to 200 per cent without loss of content or function.
Known limitations
Photographs uploaded after launch rely on the alternative text entered with them. We check this as part of our routine maintenance. If you find an image without a useful description, please tell us and we will correct it.
