Do I need council permission for a dropped kerb?
Yes. The footway is public highway, so the crossover must be approved by your local council before any work starts. Requirements and fees differ from borough to borough.
How wide can a dropped kerb be?
That is set by your council, and it usually depends on your frontage and the road. Most domestic crossovers fall between three and four and a half metres.
Do I need somewhere to park before applying?
Councils normally want to see that you have a hard standing of a sensible depth so a parked car does not overhang the footway. We can lay that at the same time.
